    • Protomotive 3.8 liter 997 Turbo pump gas and race gas dyno sheets, jaw dropping 1132 AWHP

      We know Protomotive does some great work modifying 911 turbos. We saw one absolutely destroy a Switzer R911 not too long ago. Well, these dyno sheets should show you why some of the Protomotive cars are so strong. These sheets were sent to us from overseas and we agreed to black out the name on the sheets to protect the owners privacy. The car is a 3.8 liter 997 Turbo that was run by Todd K on the dyno in 5th gear with the torque slightly lowered since 4th gear was exceeding the dyno torque limiter. The pump gas dyno is at 1.1-1.2 bar putting down 748 at the wheels and the very impressive race gas pull shows 1132 AWHP at 2.0 bar which is not even max boost. This is a stupid amount of power, VERY impressive.

        amazing power, kind of late though in the band, im now used to the linear pull of the n54, so this must be some crazy power all of a sudden... ~450 lb ft at 4k revs, a nice pull feeling, but then just 1000rpm later, at 5k you have 1000+ lb ft on tap...

        oh my god, are these twin 35r? I was talking to a guy down here that has a 1000whp turbo with twin 35r's said lag is too much and downsizing to 3076...

        I want/need to feel this type of power before I die. no matter what.

        ahhh 3586r no wonder the lag dies at 6k rpm. Power looks similar to hpf m3 or tazaa's m3 crazy amount of lag. How is this even drivable

        The lag is not as bad as you would think. There are a few of these cars running around in the middle east as well as a small handful in the US...

        What are they doing for boost control & anti lag? Making the power isn't a big issues; I think its getting the turbo to work dynamically is the big trick....

        Those look like the dyno plots from Nasser's Proto-built 3.8 GT2. Sticky, are you sure this is in a 997 Turbo?

        What intake manifold does their 4.0L EVT1500 "Mayhem" use? IIRC, it made around 1350 awhp on a Mustang dyno.

        Comparing HP numbers from different dynos is pretty much meaningless. Need to compare times. What's the 60-130 time for the 1132 awhp car?

        Maybe sub 4.5 sec.. Traction available maybe no shift, straight 4th gear pull.

        Graph is impressive but without times, you really can't compare Evoms 3.8 vs Protomotive 3.8 in a meaningful way. Since no times are given, probably 60-130 is disappointing. That's often the case. People spend all this money and sometimes results don't match expectations. If fast time, then it would have been posted by now.

        As said in another thread, the owner may just not care about 60-130 and likely did not even measure it.

        Maybe true but they seem to care about HP numbers. I would assume they would want to know something about how fast they can go. Who knows but dynos are for tuning, the real numbers come from the pavement, not rollers.

        Definitely true but I think we all know this car will be fast. Would love to see some 60-130's.
