    • Insideline compares the BMW 1M Coupe to the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 and picks... the SRT-8 - Says 1M is basically a 135i

All the 1M reviews up to this point may as well have been one long review blended together. Few in the automotive press have stood up and actually had the courage to criticize the 1M or look at it from a different perspective. That is, until now. This Insideline comparison will no doubt get fanboys panties twisted especially with comments such as these,

"The 2011 BMW M Coupe? It starts, runs, accelerates and idles like a vacuum. Sure, it's an expensive, exacting vacuum built by a team of engineers who fully understand sucking. And in the end it's a masterful machine carefully calibrated for sucking precision. But it's so focused on sucking that it's virtually emotionless. Even its burnouts are antiseptic."

Whoa, the huevos on Insideline! We didn't know they had it in them. Finally somebody who has the courage to stand up and honestly opine about the 1M instead of being a sheep. Insideline would go on to say the 1M is basically a 135 in disguise, ""Nah. Unless you drive it hard on the right road it's no different than a 135."

We'll leave you with this, try not to riot gentlemen:

Right, there's more to a BMW than its numbers AND its numbers pounded the Challenger so it's a double whammy for the 1M hahaha

One of my friends has the Challenger SRT8 and I don't even think he, who paid his own hard earned cash for it brand new and loaded it with MOPAR parts, would dare say it was on the same planet as a 1M in terms of driving enjoyment.

The Challenger is a sweet car and can be a lot of fun, but even my 135i is a thousand times better to drive.

Honestly I don't even think the mpg in the M3 is that bad at all.

I was driving my buddies 335is. Unless you baby it or doing freeway only, it can suck the gas down also.

There is an auto Charger SRT-8 here that goes to autocross (6.1 Hemi). He has cut-outs, intake/tune and stock everything else he says.

His driving consists of burnout, wobbly braking, understeer and tilt slowly through turn (literally like boat in the water), and then burnout some more to the next braking point.

My 135i actually gives you acceleration and turning G's. My 300zx will make you feel like you are in a drift event. lol I've passed through the 90 single gate turn sideways... the trick is 1st or 2nd gear clutch drop plus a lot of power. Click here to enlarge

If you REALLY want to have fun for stuff like that, buy a used Z06 and throw some 305/30F and 345/30R Hoosier A comps on it...... Hands down one of the fastest cars for the money.

Can wait to get a GoPro!

Yeah, I want to cross-shop a BMW 1M Coupe & Dodge Challenger SRT-8. That makes no sense. Click here to enlarge

Financially, it does. If you can afford one you can afford the other.

We Cross-Shopped by price. I thought about an M3, 5 series, Mustang GT500, Future Camaro ZL1, 1M, Cayman S, C63, E Class. We even looked at cars from different price ranges such as the Carrera S to a Camaro SS. I know they don't make sense as far as what class they are in but they are all close in price and we ended up going with what was best for us. I think its funny when people say "You can't compare those cars, they are not the same" when in reality people will cross-shop what ever the hell they want! HAHA!

I agree, anything in the price range can be "cross-shopped".
