    • Jeremy Clarkson reviews the 1M and thinks it is perfect, but is it?

BimmerBoost forum members seem to think this Clarkson review is a big deal so we decided to put it up on the front page despite what seems like the millionth article on the 1M. Clarkson is controversial and we often disagree with him. This case is no different as we disagree with him calling the car perfect. To his credit he does mention the 1M is essentially a parts bin M car, which it is, making it far from perfect. Watch the review and come to your own conclusion.

I have some news if you want to put in the front page.

Shila, my secretary, she is going to marry Peyman's brother.

It's ok, I found something more interesting that also balances this Clarkson love fest out: http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...513#post165513

        Note to Sorena.
Take pictures of secretary when hiring, not when firing...

I lol everytime I read ""we" I think him and his imaginary friends reach a conclusion on whatever he is writing about.

Yeah, i never understood the "we". i always thought somehow it might be related to Got PSI or Dark Phantom.

BTW where is Got PSI? no sign of him.

        BimmerBoost and the staff.

Writing a blog sounds odd if you refer to yourself in the first person. The BB staff is made up of multiple people.

I think it is, and in fact would prefer this over that over-priced E92 M3 "GTS". The CSL is over-priced as well and would need to be forced induction to keep up with a 1M with few mods.....

Do you have any idea how fast a CSL is? It runs a 7:50 on the Nurburgring - a 135i with a few mods is going to make up 25 seconds? 25 seconds!

Top Gear's test track is useless since it is always raining and now they have a different driver, etc.

I really need to start reading all the posts before jumping in... Sorry about that.

The M3 CSL was also runs R Compounds doesn't it? I'm pretty sure if the 1M was running those type of tires, it's ring time would be much lower. Don't know about no 25 sec though, that's pretty big.

Giving the 1M a higher top speed and R compounds could definitively make it drop 25 seconds on the ring. Think about it the ring is more than 8 miles long... Think about all the straights in which it was stuck at 155 MPH.

You are right. 155mph limiter FTMFL.

Actually the.Ring is 13,7 miles long, and it has a few decent straights....

Walter Rohrl claims R compounds are good for 5 seconds. He is the king of the ring so to speak, I trust his opinion.

Hah, man, R compounds aren't going to drop it 25 seconds. 25 seconds is damn eternity, are you kidding?

Best case scenario is 10 seconds and I doubt even that. Here is the difference between a 997S on Michelin Pilot Sport cups and without:

7:50 Porsche 911 Carrera S (2009) Horst von Saurma Sport Auto (08/2008),[45] PCCB, PDK, Sport Chrono Plus, Michelin Cup tires
7:59 Porsche 911 Carrera S Walter Rhrl 'Wheels' magazine (06/2004), PASM setting "Performance"

And I would argue the majority of that difference is due to the PDK. 5 seconds is more realistic, like Walter Rohrl stated.

You are probably right Sticky. Just look at the new 2012 z06 ring time. It's 20 seconds faster than the old one. Probably got 10 seconds from the R-Compounds and 10 secs from the ZR1 suspension, if not more.
