    • Confirmed - C63 AMG Black Series will receive tuned M156 6.2 liter V8 around 510 horsepower, $100k base

A Mercedes-Benz AMG inside source has confirmed the M156 V8 in a higher state of tune will be used in the C63 AMG Black Series. MotorAuthority and InsideLine who reported they confirmed an M157 twin turbo V8 would be used were wrong. It would appear P31 or SLS forged engine internals will be standard. It will not be an M159 (SLS motor) but will likely share similarities such as the heads but not the SLS intake manifold or airboxes due to not being able to fit in the C engine bay. Base price is expected to be $100k.

In short, he told them that it would NOT be coming to North America and would only be offered in Europe, like the SLK Black Series. Again, he could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Would be very odd for this car not to come to the USA. Not to mention, it would piss a lot of people off.

Just got another call from my buddy at MB who is a retail trainer. He confirmed the C63 BS is NOT coming to the US. First reason was the price for it is going to be well over $100k and apparently MB doesn't think there is a market in the US for a C class that expensive. Second, he said the poor SL Black Series sales was a contributing factor. Not sure how they can even compare the two as the SL BS was almost three times the price and made in much smaller numbers. Anyway...just some more info I'm sure many will not be happy to hear. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and I hope it's not true...

I hope it is not true either and thus far my source has not led me wrong.

If they could sell the CLK in 2008 for 135K they can sell the C63 Black Series in the states for 100K I'm sure there will be some distributed here and in Canada.

I'm sure you are right and I'm hoping it's not true - but this car will be, from what I understand, "well over $100k." I'd bet price in USD would be around $118k. I just can't understand how AMG could think there aren't enough performance oriented buyers in the US...especially considering all the involvement on the private lounge and sales of the CLK BS as you mentioned. The SL BS was a stupid idea if you ask me and is a throw away model that Mercedes should not take into account when making decisions about marketing other BS cars.
And with the track package, this thing looks like it'll put down some really quick times just like the CLK. Interesting though to get the rear dif cooler you have to order the track pkg...

I completely agree. They are acting like there isn't any money in the US market for this. The "Well over 100K" though does have me concerned. If it lands at the 118K mark as you stated it should sell quite fast considering most would take the BS over a E63 or a CL. Either way, how many were distributed to the US in 2008? There will always be a buyer for this kind of exclusive track car. Cars like this don't sit on the lot long if at all. Most are pre-ordered. All MB as to do is look at all the dealers taking pre-orders and that should spell it out for them.

The price tag on the SL Black Series was the problem in my opinion. SO many crazy options available to you at that price for a vehicle.

The "Track package" is silly to me. No question about it this is a track car. All track options should come standard.

I hope its not true and as well and we get some in the US. Are you thinking about it or are you happy with the CLK?

Quite a few of the CLK's sat on lots for quite a while and were sold at substantial discounts. That's what the dealers remember.

True, but this is a car to reward enthusiasts, not dealers.
