Here is another body kit from Russian tuner Top Car although this one is more mild than most of their Porsche offerings. For example their Panamera Stingray GTR body kit is far more over the top and at $60,000 certainly is not what one would call affordable. There is no pricing for this kit which is expected to be revealed officially at the Frankfurt Auto Show later this year although it likely will be much more affordable. ...Published on 07-06-2013 12:41 PM
How cool is this? For those unfamiliar Gulf Oil was a major oil company in the 1900's but was forced to merge with Standard Oil in 1985 which effectively ended the original company existing today mostly as intellectual property. Gulf Oil is famous in Motorsports for its sponsorship of race cars and most people who do not even know about the company will instantly recognize the classic Gulf color scheme as seen on the Porsche 911 Turbo below. ...Published on 07-05-2013 04:31 PM
Feeling jealous? You should be, as Autocar got their lucky hands on a 991 GT3. Quick reminder, the 991 GT3 is all new with a 475 horsepower direct injection based flat-6, a 9000 rpm redline, and a PDK gearbox. Essentially, this is the driver's Porsche 911 and as close to driving nirvana as one can get right now from Stuttgart. Ok, the specifications are superb but does the GT3 lose any of its magic by ditching the classic GT1 racing block and the manual transmission? ...Published on 07-04-2013 12:31 AM
Introducing the Prior Design PD600 958 Cayenne widebody kit. This kit is made from Dura-Flex FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) which is a strong material that still allows body flex in order to prevent cracking. This fits all Porsche 958 Cayenne models. Parts consist of a new front bumper, side skirts, wide front fenders, and wide rear fenders. The rear bumper is also modified to fit a center exit 997 GT3 style exhaust which looks decent and definitely is different but clearly works better on the GT3. ...Published on 06-29-2013 10:31 PM
The Porsche Macan will come in several trims the most powerful of which will be the Turbo model as often is the case with Porsches. The Panamera S and 4S switched to a turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 from the previous naturally aspirated V8 and this same turbo motor will go in the Macan Turbo. Current reports are that the motor will be detuned for the Macan likely into the 370 horsepower range but mated to a dual clutch transmission. ...Published on 06-28-2013 10:51 PM
These types of comparisons are somewhat troublesome. Now, the graph shows GIAC in a great light and no doubt GIAC can tune and tune well. However, without knowing what software was on the car previously one does not exactly know the quality of the previous tune or if a weak tune was put there in first place to bolster GIAC's claims. GIAC is a reputable company so they would likely not play those types of games but leaving the tuner out may avoid a vendor mud slinging war while at the same time doing a disservice to the quality of the comparison and the consumer. ...
