A couple weeks ago an article was posted on PorscheBoost showing a stock 997.2 Turbo S going 10.6@129.8 in the 1/4 mile. Absolutely incredible performance out of a stock car. In case anyone thought that run was a fluke here is a video showing another 997.2 Turbo S at the drag strip this one going 10.71@127.73. This just confirms the Turbo S on street tires is a car that is just short of mid 10 second performance making it a stoplight terror. ...Published on 05-17-2013 06:31 PM
McLaren is expanding as a sports car manufacturer and seemingly plans to add a third model. McLaren currently builds the MP4-12C which is slotted against the 458 Italia and has a ballistic hybrid supercar called the P1 coming that will compete in the highest end of the supercar sectors likely directly rivaling the Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid supercar. It seems McLaren is not done going to head to head with Porsche and plans to take the battle to the "entry level" realm with a car to rival the Porsche 911. ...Published on 05-16-2013 08:15 AM
Say hello to the future, officially introducing the Porsche 918 Spyder. There has been speculation on the final output and exactly what Porsche would get out of the 4.6 liter V8 engine but that has now all been put to rest. Porsche managed to squeeze an incredible 133 horsepower per liter out of the 4.6 liter V8 (the highest per liter output of any Porsche production naturally aspirated motor) for a total of 608 horsepower spinning to an incredible 9,150 rpm. ...Published on 05-15-2013 09:58 PM
The Porsche failed takeover bid of Volkswagen continues to have more negative ramifications. Porsche already was facing lawsuits of over $3 billion but now that number is rising to over $5 billion as an additional 25 hedge funds in Germany have brought suits against Porsche. As word of this got out, Porsche stock fell 3.7% and is likely to tumble more. Suits were originally brought against Porsche in the USA but the hedge funds agreed to pursue this in Germany instead. ...Published on 05-12-2013 12:05 AM
Interesting dynojet dyno comparison at the rear wheels comparing four sets of turbos on the Porsche 996 Turbo. These twin turbo setups are the A3076 at 28 psi on E85 tuned by Tony@EPL, A28 at 24 psi on MS109 tuned Markski, K16G at 22 psi on MS109 tuned by Markski, and a set of OEM K24 turbos at 15 psi on 93 octane tuned by FVD. It's interesting to not the spool characteristics between the turbos and how the bigger setups are not giving up much of anything as far as spool is concerned. ...Published on 05-10-2013 04:41 AM
It's great to see the 911 Turbo versus the R8 and Nissan GTR as they are all four wheel drive performance cars and now all also share having a dual clutch transmission available with the R8 getting its minor refresh. This is something enthusiasts want to see except that it isn't all that fair taking two stock cars, the 911 Turbo and the Audi R8, and putting them up against a 750 horsepower tuned GT-R. What fun is it if we already know the outcome and the other two cars have no fair chance? ...Published on 05-07-2013 06:05 AM
Wow. Quite simply, wow. Talk about a car that just right out of the box impresses. Close to mid 10's and 130 in a stock car, incredible. The 997.2 Turbo S simply is a epic achievement. The launch control and PDK transmission clearly help as a 1.58 60 foot is mind boggling for a stock car on street rubber. The launch control system works and works very damn well. The result using it is a 10.672@129.80 for what is a new stock 997 Turbo 1/4 mile record. ...Published on 05-03-2013 06:24 AM
Just a little over 30 days ago PorscheBoost posted an article showing the 991 Turbo basically undisguised completing its final testing. The car appeared ready for its debut and well here it is. Porsche decided to show the car off before its official "public" debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September of this year. What is interesting to note is that just like its 991 GT3 sibling the new 991 generation 911 Turbo has no manual option and is PDK only. ...Published on 05-03-2013 01:21 AM
Here is the Techart offering for the new Porsche 981 Cayman and Cayman S. This being their initial offering, it is fairly mild with add-on pieces designed to accentuate the stock lines. The front of the car gets a two-piece lip. The rear gets a diffuser and a fixed wing spoiler that looks pretty good. Techart also offers side-scoop inserts to change the look of the scoops slightly along with caps for the side mirrors. ...Published on 04-30-2013 08:33 PM
Some great work here by PorscheBoost Porsche Performance Forum member M3ntal on this stock internal 996TT. This is the same car that on the stock motor hit 717 wheel horsepower. Looking for more power and torque M3ntal decided to switch from the restrictive OEM Y-pipe to a custom three inch Y-pipe design. The result? Substantial gains from about 3700 rpm to 6200 rpm. It would appear to pick up as much as 50 wheel horsepower in the mid range. ...Published on 04-30-2013 01:52 AM
Yep, Gemballa is still in business and still using the Gemballa name to its advantage even after the mysterious death of Uwe Gemballa in South Africa. The name is so well known it is no surprise really so here is the latest offering from them, the Gemballa GT body kit. This consists of a new front spoiler, side skirts, rear bumper, and exhaust tips. There are also modification options available for the interior as well as lightweight Gemballa 21 inch wheels which weigh less than the factory 20's. ...Published on 04-24-2013 05:53 PM
We keep getting bits and pieces of the upcoming Porsche Macan "entry level" SUV which will be based on the Q5 platform. The front of the Macan SUV was leaked last month and now it seems we have the rear. This is a rendering however so it may not be 100% accurate but if AutoBild got this right this is going to be one sexy looking vehicle. The rear design here does fit in line with what the most recent spyphotos have shown. ...Published on 04-16-2013 06:10 AM
How does a turbo Cayman sound? Pretty good? Yep, PorscheBoost thinks so too and rumors have been swirling regarding a 350 horsepower range topping Cayman Turbo. The idea really isn't all that crazy and Porsche is actually downsizing motors for turbo variants that offer more power and torque as they recently did in the Panamera S and 4S which get a new turbocharged V6 in lieu of the naturally aspirated V8 they were previously equipped with. ...Published on 04-14-2013 08:40 PM
The more 991 GT3 videos the merrier as far as PorscheBoost is concerned. This is just a quick 3 minute from Porsche going over some of the technical details of the new GT3 as well as detailing the motor sound and the amount of control the new PDK gearbox gives over the car. Getting the rear to step out in a controlled drift is absolutely not problem whatsoever. The top speed of the 991 GT3 is officially set at 315 km/h or 195.7 miles per hour. ...Published on 04-13-2013 12:11 AM
The 991 Carrera is getting some love from Chamption Motorsport courtesy of their powerkit which includes a Tubi exhaust system, GIAC ecu tuning, and BMC air filters. Gains are decent although not huge with the combination of modifications raising power to 338 horsepower at the wheels. This is a gain of 18 wheel horsepower over the baseline of a stock 991 Carrera at 320 wheel horsepower. Good output from the naturally aspirated 3.4 liter direct injected flat-6. ...Published on 04-10-2013 02:45 AM
Wow, some super impressive work from Kline Innovation based out of England here for the Porsche 997 Turbo. The exhaust and manifolds/headers you see below are made out of inconel 625 grade metal which is a name for metal alloy used in high temperature applications making it perfect for an exhaust system. This metal is corrosion and oxidation resistant but difficult to work with and shape meaning someone with some serious skill is needed to make a quality exhaust using the material. ...Published on 04-08-2013 10:03 PM
Well this is some huge news out of the Porsche 911 aftermarket scene. In all honesty, PorscheBoost has not heard of the Al-Anabi Racing Team which is based out of the Middle East. This is quite a way to make oneself known. The company is owned by Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Thani and based out of Qatar. Their 997 uses ProEFI 128 flex fuel management as the brains of the motor and it is impressive to see the ProEFI 128 engine management system setting so many records. ...Published on 04-04-2013 10:15 PM
Misha Designs has released a new body kit for the 997 generation Porsche 911 called the GTM2. The car below wearing the kit is a 997.2 Carrera S but the body kit is available for all 997 Carrera models. The front of the kit leaves a gap in the front bumper by the bonnet mimicking a sort of GT3 style with the entire front bumper offering large and aggressive air duct openings. Speaking of the bonnet a new vented hood which looks good is part of the package. ...Published on 04-03-2013 12:51 PM
Well the facelift for the Panamera is officially here and just as PorscheBoost reported previously the Panamera S and Panamera 4S get a very exciting new motor. The new 3.0 liter turbo V6 gives a 20 horsepower boost on the previous 4.8 liter naturally aspirated V8 for a total of 420 horsepower. Torque also rises 15 pound-feet for a total of 383 pound-feet of torque. The Panamera S and 4S just got very, very exciting. ...Published on 04-02-2013 03:12 PM
Wow, major achievement here and quite an improvement on what this car was doing previously which already was incredibly impressive. This vehicle previously hit 10.3@133 on stock turbos with full weight. Champion Motorsport gave the car some stickier rubber and the time improved quite a bit. How does [email]9.837@135 sound? On the stock turbos? With a full weight car? Well, to PorscheBoost that sounds absolutely incredible. ...
