• BenzBoost obtains 2012 W212 E-class dealer ordering guide - No rear wheel drive E550? E63 AMG wagon confirmed

We would like to thank BenzBoost user 220S for helping us obtain the dealer order guide. There are some very interesting things in the dealer document namely that the E550 will only come in 4Matic. No rear wheel drive E550? Yes, sounds very odd but look at the document yourself. The guide also confirms that the W212 E63 wagon with the M157 twin turbo motor will be coming to the USA. Very cool, but we still do not understand why the decision was made for the E550 to be all wheel drive only.

They did this with the CL550 as well.... Why aren't they providing rear-wheel drive for non-AMG models? I would like an option at least Click here to enlarge

It's a good question and I have no idea.

In the past, all models were rear-wheel drive while 4-wheel drive (4matic) was optional. In the past year or so, Mercedes started migrating all models to 4-wheel drive without option of having rear-wheel drive (except of course for the AMG models). I hope enough people complain about this so Mercedes would listen.

It's a nice looking wagon, a little too smug for me though.

it does have a prestigious presence to it, wagons always have but this one just looks very exotic.

I love the fact that the 350 wagon will have a power boost.

Any ideas/estimates/guesses on how much the 550 wagon will be in the US?

Don't know really know what the wagon will be but guesstimate would be adding several thousand to the 550 base price. Should at least give you a ballpark figure.

Looking at the ordering guide I think the E550 will come ONLY as a sedan and not as a wagon. Unfortunately this sort of makes sense ... Can someone clarify?

So the only wagon would be the AMG? That is pretty odd.

There'll be a E350 4matic wagon with a new 6 cyclinder engine putting out over 300 HP and a AMG wagon on rear wheel drive only.

Shame about the 550 not coming in a wagon but atleast they're not like Audi that killed there new A6 Avant in the US. Click here to enlarge

So the coupe is still rear wheel drive? We are just talking about the sedan, right?

I didn't think Audi announced if the A6 Avant was coming or not?
