No secret the SLS Black Series is coming. The real questions though are how much it will cost and what the changes will be. Will it have the rumored 650 horsepower? Will it have the rumored $500k price point? We certainly hope not on the latter. MotorAuthority got a video of the car testing and it looks and sounds great (just listen to those throttle blips on the downshifts!). Also one can see a roll cage installed which may be a factory option. The entire car is definitely much more aggressive than the standard SLS. Check out the video and photos below.

Congratulations to BimmerBoost member akh23456 and Active Autowerke. Akash's E90 M3 with DCT and the Active Autowerke Stage 2 kit with meth injection set the new quickest boost only 1/4 mile time with a run of 11.2@126. The quickest/fastest overall E9X M3 time was set with nitrous so this is now the quickest run with boost only. Even more incredible is that the record settings runs were done on street tires. 10 second car with drag radials? Certainly a possibility. ...Published on 11-21-2011 06:30 PM
Another leak from the VW/AUDI ETKA software has revealed a new Q3 model as well as its horsepower figures. The screenshot below clearly shows a Q3 2.5 with 310 horsepower. What will this model be called? A Q3 S perhaps? SQ3? We first reported on this back in June and are happy to confirm it with horsepower figures. Now the only question is how do we convince Audi to bring it to the USA? ...Published on 11-21-2011 05:10 PM
The 2.5 liter naturally aspirated inline-5 was not all too popular and with pressure on improved MPG and emissions a smaller turbo 4 will be taking over. This engine has nothing in common with the old 1.8T other than the displacement and is a derivative of the current 2.0TSI motor. The motor puts out 158 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. Going into entry level models we expect tuning of this motor to become very popular. The engine code is EA888 for those interested. ...Published on 11-21-2011 08:59 AM
Most of our Southern California members are familiar with the 110 and 405 freeway junction. Porsche is set to open a driving experience center in that area that will be one of 5 in the world and only the second in North America (the other under development in Atlanta, Georgia). The idea is to offer a massive test track on an area of about 53 acres where customers and potential customers can experience what a Porsche vehicle is truly capable of. There will also be off-road areas to test out the abilities of a Cayenne off the payment. We can not wait for the grand opening in 2013 which we will be sure to attend. ...Published on 11-21-2011 08:21 AM
JAWS Motorsport out of Sweden has developed an Alpha-N setup for S85 V10 vehicles like the E60 M5. This means they use the throttle position and RPM to calculated the amount of fuel to inject as opposed to speed density. This change has resulted in a very impressive 484 horsepower to the wheels paired with the JAWS Motorsport intake. The tune coasts $1250 and comes with a handheld flash device to allow basically anyone in the world to download/upload the tune. The intake is $450 and the carbon fiber version pictured is substantially more. Please contact JAWS Motorsport if interested. ...Published on 11-21-2011 08:00 AM
We have seen the Renntech M157 twin turbo V8 tune evolve in a very impressive manner over the past few months. Recently, the Stage I tune on a CLS63 AMG ran a 11.3@125 at the strip. Renntech claims 0-60 of 3.4 seconds which is just incredible for a heavy vehicle like the CLS. Crank ratings are 669 horsepower and 734 pound-feet of torque. We will have a Renntech M157 dyno comparison up later in the week.

The R8 LMS Ultra is the successor to the R8 LMS GT3. The GT3 has won 115 races so it is not exactly an easy act to follow. The Ultra features CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) doors for weight savings. The exhaust system for the 5.2 V10 has been revised for more power. The oil cooler has been relocated and improved upon. The chassis was slightly reworked to fit larger and wider wheels. In addition to all this the aerodynamics have been changed to increase downforce. ...Published on 11-21-2011 12:20 AM
Suzuki is officially terminating its partnership with Volkswagen and seeking a return of its shares in arbitration. Suzuki got a bit upset when Volkswagen stated in a report that it could significantly influence financial and operating decisions at Suzuki. Why Suzuki is upset over the truth we have no idea. Suzuki now states it was not given full access to VW technology that is expected. Suzki CEO and chairman Osamu Suzuki stated, “Today, Suzuki terminated the partnership with VW. Suzuki will be seeking the return of its shares from VW in arbitration. I am disappointed that we have to take this action but VW’s actions have left us no choice." ...Published on 11-20-2011 09:17 PM
The new 911 Carrera S is a very impressive vehicle. It is not far off the pace of the 997 GT3 which is incredible in of itself. The vehicle tested had PDK, PCCB brakes, and PASM with the -20mm suspension option. What is very telling is the numbers around the tight Hockenheim circuit which match a 997.2 GT3 with a 1:10.4 laptime. Around the ring Sport Auto tested it at 7:44 which is as fast as they tested an R8 V10, Pagani Zonda S, and it is faster than the 996 GT2. Impressive? You bet. ...Published on 11-20-2011 07:41 PM
This is Weistec's trunk mounted water tank upgrade that applies to supercharged M156 vehicles as well as M113 Kompressor vehicles such as the W211 E55 AMG. This will allow one to better cool their supercharged vehicle and assist with the issue of heat soak that affects positive displacement supercharged cars that are making back to back wide open throttle runs. One can put ice in the reservoir to further help cool air charge temperature entering the intake path. Hot water can easily be drained with the drain system.

Say what you want about Chris Bangle, there is no denying his impact on the automotive industry. His designs have been controversial and he dragged BMW kicking and screaming into the future but he certainly has had a massive impact. This 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award is given by the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology where a group of automotive design peers chose Bangle as the recipient for 2012. Bangle was with BMW until 2009 and is known most for the E60 5 series and E65 7 series both of which feature the infamous "Bangle Butt." He currently operates his own design studio in Italy. Congratulations to Mr. Bangle for this prestigious design award. ...Published on 11-20-2011 01:11 AM
We are not big fans of hybrids. We do not like the Prius. We do not like Prius owners. We like cars that make the ground shake, tires smoke, and scare the elderly as well as small children. Porsche however has managed to make a car that can do all that previously mentioned while being eco friendly and badass at the same time. Introducing The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid 2.0 sporting an awesome 672 horsepower.

Here is the 4 door version of the Audi A1 we are sure you have all been waiting for. Yes, that was sarcasm as we do not pay much attention to the A1 in general as Audi decided the USA should not get it. It is Audi news however and since this is a new model it is our duty to bring it to you. So, here you are, dream about the 4 door A1 you can not have. That's a joke, we really aren't going to miss not having this. The RS6 on the other hand... ...Published on 11-19-2011 09:50 PM
Here is our coverage of Volkswagen from the 2011 LA Auto Show. There really was not anything all too exciting from VW. They had plenty of models to show off though and also brought the very cool looking Bettle R concept that we hope somehow makes it to production. They were also showing off a hybrid Touareg that had the first supercharged hybrid powertrain in the world. Not exciting from an enthusiast perspective but it is a world first. ...Published on 11-19-2011 04:51 PM
BMW has secured an increase of its stake in SGL Carbon SE to 15.16%. This move essentially shows BMW intends to feature more carbon fiber in future models as they seem to be aware of how hefty their vehicles are getting. This also means we can expect to see a lot more CFRP (carbon reinforced plastic) in BMW vehicles but unfortunately this move is mostly geared toward the 'i' brand. BMW and the SGL group already operated a join venture with a company called SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers of which BMW holds a 49% stake and SGL holds 51%. The two partners recently built a state of the art carbon fiber manufacturing facility in Michigan.

This is the car we unfortunately missed at SEMA. Luckily, we were able to find great pictures of the build which is simply stunning. The car features a custom exhaust including custom long tube headers. The quality of the welding speaks for itself. A Weistec supercharger kit was installed as well to go with the beautiful exhaust setup. In addition to the performance mods cosmetic pieces (wheels, wing) were added and the final product is simply astounding. An excellent build that shows off the quality of Fluid Motor Union's work inside and out.

Here are our Audi pictures from the La Auto Show. The main interest in the Audi are was the new S6, S7, and S8. These cars get twin turbo V8's that should offer up significant competition to BMW and Mercedes. In addition Audi had a nice electric concept, the R8 GT, and the TT-RS on display. They also had some of the best looking and friendliest models at the show which was a nice little plus.

There was much more going on in the Porsche Hall (yes, Porsche rents out their own private hall as they have for years, awesome) than just the Panamera GTS reveal. In our opinion, Porsche had the best showing out of any of the German makes. The new 991 Carrera and Carrera S were there along with several other models. Not to mention an awesome open bar and buffet setup. Porsche really knows how to throw a party. ...Published on 11-17-2011 08:55 PM
BMW's showing at the 2011 LA Auto Show was frankly pretty disappointing. Right up front was the BMW ActiveE while the new F10 M5 was hidden in the back in a dark, poorly lit corner. What about the new F30 3 series? BMW did not even bother showing it. Instead the focus was all on the BMW 'i' brand with a whole room built around the i3 and i8. There was no X5 or X6 M and BMW was pushing their electric nonsense even over their bread and butter 3 series which was just refreshed. Very disappointing that enthusiast models took a back seat especially when the competition such as Porsche and Mercedes were putting those models at the forefront. ...
