Not the best day for Mercedes with Rosberg finishing in 7th and Schumacher not finishing the race after a collision with Senna. The victor was rookie Pastor Maldonado who was helped out greatly by the penalty assessed to Lewis Hamilton after qualifying essentially stripping Hamilton of the pole and giving it to Maldonado. A well deserved victory by Maldonado who raced very well and in the process became the first Venezuelan to win a Formula 1 Grand Prix. ...

We are pulling for Rosberg after he achieved a victory for Mercedes earlier this year. Mercedes looks much improved and we would be lying if we did not want to see Schumacher show his vintage self. The major news from qualifying is that Lewis Hamilton took the pole only to be excluded when his car was found to have less than the allowable minimum fuel amount. Hamilton loses the pole and will be starting instead from the back of the pack. Maldonado is moved up to the pole from second below. ...

Now we are just going by the horsepower figures given in the video as we do not have any dynos to accompany the claims. However, they both are likely accurate due to the result of the race. The CLS63 AMG is able to hang right with the tuned Ford GT and if the race went further it looked like it could pull slightly up top. We do not know the exact list of modifications on either car but the CLS63 obviously has Renntech software and the Ford GT is likely running a pulley, exhaust, and tune from Heffner. Regardless, very impressive result for the CLS63 AMG against stout competition. ...

This video comes from two BenzBoost members with modified W204 C63 AMG sedans, users Mthis and JonsC63AMG. The modifications on JonsC63AMG are an OE Tuning ECU tune, everything else is stock. The C63 taping the race belongs to Mthis and has an updating OE Tuning ECU tune along with long tube headers, BMC filters, 3 inch mid pipes, and some lightweight mods. Despite a lead and jump by the C63 belonging to Jon the C63 recording showed the horsepower disparity reeling him in and passing him. Exhaust modifications clearly make a nice difference on the C63 and compliment a tune well. ...

This is a comparison we have been wanting to see of a supercharged M156 taking on a tuned M159 in an SLS. The SLS belongs to a BenzBoost member named SLS AMG and it features bolt on's including a tune and exhaust mods. The SL63 AMG in this video is a 2009 R230 that belongs to his brother. The car has a Stage I Weistec supercharger. Full specs including weight of the cars are below. The supercharged car is putting out more power and it wins although the SLS hangs in there very well. Maybe time to upgrade the SL to the Weistec Stage 2+ supercharger? ...

BMW narrowly, and we mean narrowly, edged out Mercedes for the sales crown in the United States last year. Mercedes ended 2011 on a strong note topping BMW in a couple months at the end of the year and they have carried that momentum into 2012. We are pleased to report Daimler has taken the overall US sales crown through this point in 2012. It is going to be a close battle as BMW had a 36, yes only 36, car lead through the first quarter. We expect this to go back and forth but we hope Mercedes does dethrone BMW as they have been doing a much better job catering to the enthusiast and also giving US fans all the limited edition Black Series Models. The G-Wagon has been around for... well, it seems like forever. Mercedes continues to improve the vehicle consistently and now they have given it the new twin turbo M157 V8. The G-Wagon made its reputation as a rugged off-roader so the idea of a twin turbo V8 G-Class from AMG for tearing up the streets may seem odd but it's undeniably cool. Why the Nissan GT-R keeps getting included in performance luxury sedan comparisons we have no clue. Maybe a statement being made about its weight? Who knows, but the M5 and CLS are not the GT-R's competition. Regardless, this test gives us more insight on the acceleration figures of the Performance Package M157 AMG motors versus the F10 M5. The cars accelerate even to 100 mph at which point by 124 mph the CLS with the Performance Package opens up a gap. Through the 1/4 mile the M5 runs a tenth faster but the CLS63 has the higher trap speed. ...

Lorinser has revealed their new widebody kit for the new W166 ML. The kit features a new front bumper, 30mm extended wheel arches, side skirts, and a new rear bumper with integrated diffuser. They also lower the SUV with springs (or software for Airmatic cars) and offer their own 22 inch wheels. The kit itself is not anything special and not exactly clean as the fenders and vents look tacky. The recently revealed Kicherer widebody kit is simply a much better execution of exterior modification on the W166 platform. ...

A very impressive start to the hotly contested 2012 DTM season by Mercedes. Drivers Gary Paffett and Jamie Green were able to achieve a 1-2 finish respectively. Audi and Mercedes took the first 5 spots with newcomer BMW's best finish coming in 6th place. Even more impressive is that the Mercedes drivers managed the 1-2 victory with Audi taking the pole. Congratulations to Mercedes for a strong start. Audi also showed they will be a strong force and BMW clearly has some work to do. Full results below. ...

The W221 S-Class is winding down and the next generation W222 set to replace it is finishing up testing. What we see clearly in the photos here are new LED's incorporated into the headlights. It seems every manufacturer is getting on board with the idea of LED headlights and Mercedes seems intent to incorporate them into all their new models. Expect the new S-Class to be revealed later this year. Oh, and a plug-in hybrid version will also be coming along. Do not worry, Mercedes is not going soft, as a new S63 AMG with the M157 twin turbo V8 is also in the cards. ...

The A25 AMG Mercedes is definitely coming as you can see here. Expected under the hood is a 340+ horsepower 2.0 liter version of the current M271 turbo four cylinder motor. This will allow it to compete with the Audi S3 and any M badged version of the BMW 1 Series. The power is expected to be routed to all four wheels with a dual clutch transmission. Expect this same same driveline to find its way into the B-Class as well as the upcoming baby CLS. ...

With the recent release of forged engine internals for the M156 V8 it is only natural that other areas of the driveline the big power will be going through will need to also be addressed. Hence the Weistec W209 CLK63 Black Series Carbon Fiber Driveshaft and CV axles. Just like the engine internals these parts will also be able to support 1000+ horsepower. For now, these are only available for the W209 CLK63 Black Series but these parts are also being developed for the W204 C-Class. ...

We have known for a while now that Mercedes intended take on the Porsche 911 with a car coming in at a lower price point than the SLS. Reports confirm that the car has been given the green light and will be coming in 2014. We thought the car would be called the SLC but rumor is the SLR name will be revived. Why? We do not know, it does not make much sense to us as the SLR name was used for the Mercedes McLaren SLR supercar priced far above everything else in the lineup. ...

Well here is what we have all been waiting for, forged internals for the Mercedes M156/M159 V8 and associated hardware from Weistec. These are the upgrades necessary to take already ridiculously fast Weistec supercharged M156 V8's to the level of shock and awe. The Bahrain GP took place as planned even with all the turmoil (which our members who have visited and are from Bahrain say was generated by the media) that was reported and hyped up everywhere. Sebastian Vettel won the race and Lotus-Rentault had a nice finish with both drivers on the podium. Mercedes-Petronas did not do poorly as both Rosberg and Schumacher scored points which is definitely a positive. Rosberg was faster than Schumacher though which seems to be the established trend. The next race is in Spain, May 13. ...

The Mercedes SLR is a very fast car with its supercharged M155 5.4 liter V8 putting out 615 horsepower. The car is capable of low 11's stock with trap speeds just under 130. The SLR is a bit dated now though and the Aventador is the new kid on the block sporting a 690 horsepower 6.5 liter V12 putting power to all four wheels and a sequential gearbox making shifts in the 50 millisecond range. We are still getting a feel for how fast the Aventador is and although this is only an 1/8 mile race that is over pretty quickly the Lambo is able to pull the SLR pretty quickly. If the race went a full 1/4 mile, it would have been ugly for the Benz. The Aventador definitely is fast. ...

Well, Mercedes has decided its current naming scheme is too confusing so in order to ease confusion they are going to introduce new model names which will... confuse us. Ok, what was supposed to be the CLC (the baby CLS) will now be the CLA. CLC will instead denote the C-Class hatchback. What was supposed to be the GLC (X6 type SUV) will now be the GLA. The E-Coupe will likely be renamed CLE. The SUV's are likely to get renamed as well. We do not see how any of this is less confusing and we hope Mercedes abandons this nonsense. We will just wait for the official model names before trying to sort this mess out. ...
